HOTEL PALOMAR PHILADELPHIA

Kimpton Hotels will be welcoming a new addition to their family as Hotel Palomar (their first Philadelphia boutique hotel) is set to open this Fall.  Hotel Palomar is the first green hotel in Philadelphia and the first LEED certified hotel in the Kimpton family.  The 92.5 million dollar project will transform the city’s Architects Building, located near Rittenhouse Square at 17th and Sansom streets.

New, energy-efficient mechanical systems were installed. Recycled materials were used wherever possible—in floor tiles and the ceiling, for example. Low-flow fixtures in bathrooms will keep water consumption to a minimum. A water filtration system will eliminate on-property use of bottled water. The 100 percent nonsmoking hotel will also include in-room recycling containers.

The hotel will implement a green stay with these green programs: Luxury, eco-friendly bath amenities, Recycling program for cups, clothes hangers, batteries and more; Rooms and linens cleaned with eco-certified cleaning supplies; Towel and linen reuse program; Guestroom energy management system; Guest and employee dry cleaning service will use eco-friendly methods and products; Unused and partially used bath amenities will be donated to community programs; and Paperless guest check-in/out service will reduce hotel paper use.

The 234-room Hotel Palomar will be the city’s first highly stylized, up-scale boutique hotel and gathering spot, and fill a void that previously existed for Philadelphia’s sophisticated corporate, leisure, and convention-travel customer base. Kimpton called upon hotel design guru Dayna Lee of Powerstrip Studio to help make this hotel magnificent. The project will also include a new ground-floor chef-driven restaurant and bar; more than 6,000 square feet of meeting space – including a 16- person high-tech board room – and a 3,000 square foot, meticulously preserved, penthouse-level ballroom with original ceiling molding and sweeping views of the city on three sides. The building architectural significance will add to the hotels lavish experience and outstanding accommodations.
