At the 2010 Canadian International Auto Show, which is held annually in the city of Toronto, show goers will get to see something very much out of the ordinary, a Canadian Supercar.

Behold the HTT Plethore LC-750. HTT, which stands for High Tech Toys, has been working on their car for a few years now, but it is now set to go into production by the end of this year.

Their first car is the Plethore (the name is the French pronunciation for the word ‘plethora’ which means ‘over abundant’) has got a huge task on its hands to win over the public and the enthusiasts who can afford such vehicles.

One look at the almost production ready car on display, and it looks like they will succeed. Not only is the design alluring enough, when you look closely at its details, you can see that the car has been put together by people who really understand build-quality and pay attention to every detail.

Thankfully there is nothing about it that suggests it’s a kit car, because it isn’t one. All the seams look consistent, even though the company’s President, Sebastian Forest says there are still some improvements on their way, which will be present on even the first batch of production vehicles.

Another feature that will be present from day one, is a very potent powerplant. It is a 6.2-liter, V8 sourced from the Chevrolet Corvette, with a massive supercharger. End result is 750 hp, which should be enough to propel this 1220 kg machine (note, it is much lighter in weight compared to a Ferrari Enzo or the Porsche Carrera GT) from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. HTT hasn’t done any top speed runs yet, but according to their engineers who have been making calculations based on aerodynamic drag, power and rear ratios; it should hit about 390 km/h.

If these claims turn out to be true, this new three-seater (driver sits in the middle) will be one of the fastest production cars ever made, and that is just phase one.

HTT is already planning on a 1300 hp version, a car they hope will take the top speed honors one day.

The Plethore was recently shown at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona (U.S.A.), where HTT were able to secure six orders for their $395,000 LC-750. Since they are only planning on building eight cars this year, they are off to a good start.

The HTT Plethore is not the first effort from Canada to build a supercar (anyone remember the MCV CH4!!!), but this Quebec based company looks set to be the first ones to actually being successful at it. Here’s hoping.
